For HCV 1.2 target set to 2 trees per petak (100 ha) for CR Dipterocarp that display Type II growth. 2 trees over 20cm DBH for Type I populations. Only applies to species that are recorded in felling coupe. If 2 or less trees per felling coupe recorded ALL tree retained that are found (for HCV 1.2 and TRP species under HCV 1.3)

Information from Ketapang Regency - Planned Improvement in 2011 for SJM logging road from Kampung Baru towards Km 102, to assist access for communities in the region. This plan has questionable benefits and has been official protested by SJM management as it will affect the concession and is unlikely to go ahead due to increased threat of illegal logging.

The road in question will affect a very small portion of the HCV 2.1 core zone already delineated (remains unchanged), and information from stakeholder such as this reinforces need for multi-stakeholder approach to landscape management

Clarification of RePPProT landsystems. Soils surveys have to check the profile at the top, mid and bottom of slopes. The landsystems need verifications by sampling soils, and are of potential to identify sub-ecosystems if data is available.

The use of RePPProT should not be used without primary data of soils. Soil data to detemine the subtle differences between the ecosystems that may require diferent management systems should be a priority beofre logging in the future.

Forest fires and HCV 4.2. Under normal conditions (with normal rainfall and canopy cover) forest difficult to burn. Even though in the height of the dry seasons, not much burning seen in Indonesia. Under normal conditions primary forest is a good fire break.

HCV 4.3 is present occording to Dedi. HCV 4.3 should be kept as primary forest and the buffer zone sufficient to cover degraded forest sufffering from edge effect (that will need regeneration) to mature forest.

Disamping dapat mengambil hasil hutan berupa kayu, tetapi dapat dimaching dengan pemeliharaan, pembudidayaan, pengembangan dan pelestarian hutan, flora, fauna yang ada disekitar HP tersebut. Selama ini memang udah ada HTI, arboretum, contoh penenaman hutan meranti, bangkirai, pembibitan dan sebagainya tetapi masih perlu ditingkatkan.

Ada saran atau usul agar PT. SJM dapat mengeksploitasi sumber air untuk kebutuhan air minum masyarakat, membuat wisata alam, hewan yang dapat dikunjungi masyarakat, mengembangkan penangkaran hewan langka seperti: kelempyou, orang hutan, trenggiling, ikan semah atau jelawat, burung unggang, pohon lebah madu, dan sebagainya. Mengembangkan wisata alam berupa resort. Demikian komentar yang kami sampaikan.

Kawasan konservasi yang bernilai tinggi mempunyai tujuan dan manfaat yang baik bagi semua pihak khususnya untuk menjaga kelestarian hutan secara berkelanjutan agar terasa manfaatnya bagi tingkat masyarakat , pemerintah daerah dan secara nasional.

Agar Kawasan konservasi yang bernilai tinggi terjaga dengan baik perlu dilakukan :

-   Penanganan khusus terhadap areal tersebut agar tidak terganggu ekosistemnya

-  Pengawasan yang terpadu dari berbagai elemen masyarakat dan pemerintah

-       Penataan batas dan ditetapkan bahwa areal tersebut merupakan areal kawasan konservasi yang bernilai tinggi yang diketahui semua pihak.

Tujuan KAT untuk melestarikan lingkungan social masyarakat dengan menyatukan penduduk yang berpencar-pencar, juga untuk penataan lingkungan penduduk. Sasaran ke kec. Hulu sungai dikarenakan lokasi /kawasan daerahnya sangat luas dan akan berpotensi dalam kehidupan perekonomian kedepannya. Dalam observasi studi kelayakan memberikan hasil positif
